Review in Modern World History test on September 23, 2011
In the first part of the test, there will be matching and identify and explain the meaning of the key terms that are provided in the sheet by Mr. Timothy.
 - Human and environment
 - Human and Other humans
 - Human and Ideas
 - Big History
 - Common phenomenon
 - Comparison
 - Diffusion
 - Syncretism
 - Accident
 - Contingency
 - Conjunction
Those are the vocabs or key terms that are most likely to appear on the test. Human and environment, human and Other human, and human and ideas are the ideas between humans and the environment, other human, and ideas. For the human and environment, it might be a Thailand and flooding problem in this time period. From the example, we can tell that humans and environment are how humans' actions effect the environment. Humans cut many trees in order to build more buildings and have more spaces for creation or create a business. The outcome of the actions are flooding because from the less amount of tress we have, there's not much thing left to drain rains, and water in order to prevent flood.
Humans and other humans is how they live, how their actions effect each other, and how they related to each other. Humans and Ideas is how humans think of the ideas, or think of the history "what did happen?".
There are 5 major terms for history class we are learning. There are Big history, diffusion, syncretism, common phenomenon, and comparison. Big history are a lists of events explained in the time line. For an example, French Revolution or American revolution. Diffusion is the spread of ideas, cultures, or believes. We can say that spreading the idea of American is the best nation in the world is also count as Diffusion. Diffusion mostly on believe or ideas about technology or messages. Common Phenomenon are the common things between two cultures. It can be natural disaster, cultures, ideas, and many other things. Common phenomenon cannot be something to ordinary or common all around the world. It can be tsunamis happen in America and Thailand nearly the same time. This event can be Common phenomenon. Syncretism, it is a combination of ideas and cultures between two or more cultures. For an exmaple, the combination of guitar, drums, piano, and flute may become a rock music band. Basically, it is a combination of cultures to create a new culture. The last terms of history is Comparison. Comparison means compare a different and common things between two or more cultures. We can say that Thailand and Japan have the different language, dress, food, but same kind of uniform. Accident and Contingency are not the same thing. Although the meanings sound similar but accident is more likely a event that occur by a coincidence, but it cannot be a event that might happen. Conjunction means combination of something.

The Main Ideas: (10-15 mutliple choice questions)
·     Main Ideas include the 5 World History Methods which include Big History, Diffusion, Comparison, Common phenomenon, and syncretism as I've said in the paragraph above. Some questions might ask you to apply principles of accident, contingency, and conjuncture to some history that Mr. Timothy will be provided in the multiple questions that we will take on September 23, 2011. We also need to able to identify and explain about SOAPSTone process & PERSIAN categorization chart. We might need to apply this two or write the questions for each of the topic for an example S in SOAPSTone stands for "subject". So once we understand the SOAPSTone process, write 2-3 questions that include all of the Subject's question. We need to understand the concept of SOAPSTone and PERSIAN chart. Some questions may ask about proper search tools for an example "~" and "-" means find the synonym, or "-" means find the words that means the same meaning as the word but not the word itself. The Humans and environment, ideas, and other people will also be include in this part.
